Some years ago I picked up a book called Passion and Purity by a woman named Elisabeth Elliot. When I read this book for the first time, I didn’t give much thought to it. The language of it didn’t make much sense to me, neither did her rather conservative views on dating. After completing it, I put it down and thought nothing more about it. Fast forward four years later…
One night after lending a book to a friend, I came upon Passion and Purity again in my library. I remembered not liking it before, but decided that it might be different the second time around. Once I started reading this book, I could NOT put it down. It seemed that time and space were all that were needed for me to identify with the sentiments within this book. Initially, I wanted to read it to help direct some of the longings in my heart, but what I took away from it was a higher calling on my life and a renewed dedication to my savior.
The following posts are going to reflect some of the lessons that God has taught me through reading Passion and Purity. Get ready for some juicy stuff. There’s more to come…
